NMIC is a non-profit organization that empowers community members in crisis by providing resources to succeed. They provide five services in immigration, education, housing, and other social services.
Create a user-friendly, and accessible website for both clients and supporters through crisp and clear visuals.
Unclear identity and outdated branding.
Content heavy structure without a clear visual hierarchy.
No clear call to actions for decision making throughout the website.
Design in action
New Icon Design
We redesigned the new icons for each service that NMIC provides. The new icons are more simple and self-explanatory. They will be placed in the department business cards and the color will be used in the physical building of the organization so that the clients would be able to visit the appropriate service department.
From the initial color scheme that was more vibrant, we decided on the color scheme on the left in order to meet the accessibility requirements. Considering the demographics of the users who are low in literacy and technology, we minimized the interactions so that the users would always have the contents available without clicking too much.
Branding: Building Blocks
After researching visual inspirations, I decided on 'Building blocks' as a concept represents NMIC's mission to build capacity for the people in the community.

The website was built with direct input from the team at NMIC and research on non profit web design. We asked questions like, 'Who are your main users?', and 'What are some of the pain points?', and 'What are some of the most important message you want to come across?'.
With their insights, my partner and I came up with three concepts and after three weeks of iterations, we created a more inviting and user-friendly website, with more minimal branding.
